Journalism FAIL: Tell Tribune Media Services to Pull Joel Brinkley - In early February, Tribune Media Services distributed the article "Despite Increasing Prosperity, Vietnam's Appetites Remain Unique" by Joel Brinkley. In the article, Brinkley claimed that the Vietnamese are an overly aggressive people compared to their "passive" Asian counterparts, which can be attributed to their rampant consumption of dogs, rats, and other wildlife. If you feel this article is ridiculously offensive, then please join us in sending a letter demanding that Tribune Media Services remove Brinkley as an "American Voices" columnist. - http://act.engagementlab.org/letter/18mr_journalismfail/

The big anti-violence campaign One Billion Rising is tomorrow, and since we've been gearing up this big event to end violence against women and girls, I find it only fitting to share an article featuring an art exhibition highlighting "women's inner strength" at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
“High Spirit,” the art exhibition, celebrates the centennial anniversary of College of the Holy Spirit, Mendiola (CHS). Fifteen accomplished CHS women alumnae in their various fields of endeavor participate, with their art to be viewed at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Little Theater lobby and second-floor hallway. The exhibit runs until March 27. Free viewing is open daily Tuesday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and during theater performance intermission. (The Inquirer)
