9th Filipina Summit: Pinay Power 2012

===============

Time is running out for VAWA this year - if everyone makes 5 calls this week, we can get it done!

We all want to protect women of all ages and ethnicities in the US and prevent any harm that may come to them from injustices like abuse and violence. Help protect women across the nation:

TAKE ACTION:  Call your own senators and representative and tell them to demand congressional leaders solve the bluew slip procedural hold-up or we’ll give them the pink slip in November. More information.

This is a very IMPORTANT
message.

Let's stand shoulder to shoulder as a community in support of survivors of domestic violence. Raise a loud and clear voice that San Francisco is a safe place to reach out for and receive help. We have about $2,860 to go.

Please help fund the 3rd billboard in Tagalog "Domestic Violence is NEVER a private matter" (mock-up below).

Your $10, $25, $50, $75 or $100 will go a long way to reassure all victims and witnesses of domestic violence that they can and should feel safe to report abuse.  We raised $900+ in 2 days so please contribute what you can.

We hope you can support this very important and urgent cause. CLICK to contribute or go to www.loudsauce.com/campaigns/82.

Through a San Francisco-based startup called LoudSauce, FWN turned to the internet - to YOU - and to "crowdfunding" to raise money for the billboard.  SPREAD the word about this campaign - Facebook your friends, Twitter this message, forward this Email to your friends.

Take a stand and help your Filipina / Asian sisters and FWN install this billboard.

PINAY TALKS

Supreme Court robe rage reveals conservatives' antipathy to critical thinking -POLITICO Arena

The robe rage directed at Justice Roberts from the four disgruntled dissenters upset that a Republican justice upheld a Republican mandate enacted by a Democratic Congress and president is stunning to behold. Spilling selective secrets of the judicial monastery to settle a score and prove to their conservative base that they somehow were betrayed by his burst of independent thinking says more about them than the alleged apostate. Marc Thiessen is wrong - both Republicans and Democrats have been "surprised" but surprised Democrats don't leak Court proceedings or call for impeachment. View article.

Shall We Dance? A look into Philippine Traditional Dance- Camperspoint Philippines

Most Philippine dances were originally patterned after European dances during the Spanish regime. Pandango Sa Ilaw, Cariñosa, Rigodon and Balitao are examples of these dances Filipinos are known for. Aside from these western-influenced dances, ethnic-created dances such as Tinikling made its way to nationwide recognition. Despite its apparent adaptation to western dances, still Filipinos pay tribute to their cultural roots.View article.
