"Cryptocurrency:

What You Need To know But Do Not Know What Questions To Ask"

You may have heard of Bitcoin ($826 billion in total market value) and Ethereum ($390 billion market value), the two most popular cryptocurrencies. You’ve also probably heard how people make thousands, if not millions of dollars, by “investing” in cryptocurrency. But what is it? Or a better question…what is the point of cryptocurrency? The main point of cryptocurrency is to fix the problems of traditional currencies by putting the power and responsibility in the currency holders’ hands.

Cryptocurrency is
a digital payment system that doesn't rely on banks to verify transactions. It's a peer-to-peer system that can enable anyone anywhere to send and receive payments. When you transfer cryptocurrency funds, the transactions are recorded in a public ledger. Cryptocurrency is stored in digital wallets. More and more people are beginning to appreciate this next evolution of money.

Kristine Dandan was born in the Philippines and migrated to Sydney, Australia when she was four years old. After graduating from The University of Sydney, Kristine ventured to New York and started at Deutsche Bank. Kristine was at Deutsche Bank (DB) for 8 years in New York and Los Angeles. At DB, Kristine managed relationships with institutional clients, including the hedge fund and asset management industry for FX Prime Brokerage, Futures, and Derivatives clearing, focusing on client onboarding and client service. In 2020, Kristine relocated to San Francisco. She started at MUFG, where Kristine managed relationships with US banking regulatory agencies, including the OCC, Federal Reserve, and FDIC, focusing on the regulatory examination process.

Kristine is currently a Senior Institutional Account Manager at Coinbase working to support Coinbase's mission to increase economic freedom in the world. Beyond work, Kristine is passionate about travel, fashion, and empowering others to "achieve" the impossible, which drove her to become the San Francisco Chapter President of The International Society of Filipinos in Finance & Accounting (ISFFA).

WHAT IS VIRTUAL WATER COOLER?

FWN convenes a weekly Virtual Water Cooler. Showing up for each other. A gathering to share, ask and give.

SHARE: Do you have a story, an article, a job promotion, an award you received, news about your company, an idea you want to share?

ASK: Do you need advice, a resource, a contact, someone to review your resume or a speech you're writing, guidance on a marketing pitch or grant proposal? I know it's not in our culture to ask for help as many of us feel ashamed. Know that you are in a safe, private and confidential environment.

GIVE: Do you have something to give? A free consultation, a book, an item you no longer need, a ticket to attend a Zoom event or conference, a discount coupon, a free meal? Receiving is at the heart of our connection with one another. It is about paying forward.

This weekly gathering is to demonstrate the abiding power of FWN's personal connections and bringing people together in solidarity and comfort.
