About the V-Day FWN 2009 Shows:
What
are “The Vagina Monologues”?
Hailed by The
New York Times as "funny" and "poignant" and by the Daily
News as "intelligent" and "courageous," The Vagina Monologues, which was first
performed off-Broadway by Ms. Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain,
power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences.
Ms. Ensler has performed the play to great
acclaim throughout the world - from Zagreb to Santa Barbara, from London
to Seattle, from Manila
to Oklahoma City.
[“The Vagina Monologues” is] a work which is inescapably universal for women, and manages to be feminist without being man-hating, entertaining without being trite, and political without being earnest.
-The London Telegraph
"In the current era, it takes some brain racking to think of anyone else doing anything quite like Ensler. She's a countercultural consciousness raiser, an emmpowering figure, a truth-teller." –Chicago
Tribune
“Eve Ensler wants to save the world...and don't even think of getting in her way." -New York Times Magazine
